The story of this rug

If you want a rug to be the event of a room, this is not the one. A loom-woven rug in mink — a gray-brown neutral — 160 × 230 cm (5'3" × 7'7"), carrying abstract marks so faint they read as shadows on the surface.

01What Wool does

Cotton foundation, with a surface of New Zealand wool lifted in places by viscose. Woven around Oushak. Mink is the color that sits between gray and brown without committing to either, and it is the reason this piece works under almost anything.

02Color, by the light

The abstract marks are drawn at low contrast, a tone or two away from the ground, so they appear and vanish as the light moves across the day. Nothing here fights a sofa, a floor or a wall. That restraint is the design decision, and it took more discipline than a loud rug would have. The loom lays down a dense knot structure and hand work closes it, which is why a piece made this quickly still has weight in the hand.

03What the yarn is

Wool takes the traffic and viscose supplies what shine there is. The honest limitation: at low contrast the pattern will not photograph, so it is a rug you have to see in a room. It is also pale enough to want a doormat between it and the street. Vacuum weekly; wash it through a specialist. Loom-woven in the Oushak region with hand finishing. New Zealand wool and viscose in the surface, cotton beneath. Mink ground — gray-brown, neutral, and deliberate about it. Low-contrast abstract marks that come and go with the light. 160 × 230 cm (5'3" × 7'7"), for a bedroom or a study. It does not photograph; the contrast is too low to survive a camera. Vacuum weekly; specialist washing when it needs it. One of a limited Heritage run. The rugs that stay in a house longest are usually the ones nobody can quite describe afterward, and this is built to be one of those.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.
