Terracotta Plain Loom-Woven Viscose Rug

It shows footmarks, and that is worth saying before anything else. 01The tone of the ground

Terracotta usually lands too red or slides into brown; this one holds the line between them and stays there under both kinds of light. Because viscose reflects along the pile, one half of the rug looks like late sun on a wall and the other half goes deep and matt, and the two swap when you walk around it.

02From ground to pile

Against pale walls and untreated wood it makes a room warmer than the thermostat does. Viscose is spun from plant cellulose, which is where the silken hand and the shine both come from. At 8 mm the pile is a conventional rug depth and at 2,700 g/m² the weave is close and even.

03The air of the room

The shine comes with a condition attached: footprints stay in it until the pile is brushed back, and anyone who would find that irritating should buy something matt instead. Otherwise it is undemanding — low lint, an easy vacuum, and several sizes to choose from.
