The story of this rug

Plain Beige Loom-Woven Wool Rug: warm beige at one end of the field, cooling into gray at the other, tone laid against tone with nothing abrupt in between. Loom-woven in India, 80% wool and 20% other natural fiber, 7 mm of pile at 3,300 g/m².

01How many centimeters, which room

Four sizes are made, the middle one, 200 × 300 cm (6'7" × 9'10"), being the common choice. The effect is first light rather than full daylight — quiet, unhurried, the way a room looks before anyone has switched a lamp on. Nothing on the surface is emphatic.

02The mark of slow weaving

Across a wide floor the gradient has room to travel and the rug earns its keep; in a small space it flattens into one beige, so the larger dimensions are the ones to look at. Hand knotting and machine knotting meet on the same loom in India, which is what loom-woven means here and why this surface is more even than a village rug and warmer than a machine-made one. The weight keeps it lying flat and staying where it was put.

It holds its shape through cleaning, and cleaning should be professional. Sweeping and wiping cover everything else. Woven on a loom in India, part by hand and part by machine. 80% wool with 20% other natural fiber. 3,300 g/m² — heavy enough to stay put on a smooth floor without an underlay. 7 mm pile, the thickness of a conventional rug. It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.
