The story of this rug

Plain beige, in 100% New Zealand wool, loom-woven in India at 13 mm and 4,750 g/m². The color is warm rather than sandy and the surface is matt throughout, with no pattern to read and nothing to date it.

01After the color

Made in several sizes. Beige is the color a room falls back on when everything else in it is already decided, and this one is a good version of it: soft, slightly warm, close enough to the wool's own tone that the fiber still looks like fiber. Its honest limitation is that it is a background, and it is meant to be.

02What it sits well with

Nobody will walk into the room and look at the floor. What they will notice is that the timber and the leather in the room got warmer, which is the job it was made for. India, on a loom, with hand work and machine knots sharing the task between them.

03The Wool on the surface

Nothing but New Zealand wool goes into the pile. At 13 mm it is thick enough to feel underfoot as a cushion rather than a covering, and its full, slightly springy body is what makes a hard floor tolerable in winter. Wool without shine does not register the places people walk, so a beige rug in a busy room stays looking level.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.
