The story of this rug

Gray is not the color anyone expects on a prayer rug, and it is what makes this one contemporary: a loom-woven wool and cotton prayer rug from Türkiye, 80 × 130 cm (2'7" × 4'3"), with mustard yellow along the side borders, olive green in the panels, and blue and navy through the drawing. The gray ground stands for the plain and the ordinary, and it does what a strong color cannot — it lets the borders carry all the meaning. Mustard reads as earth, olive as leaf, and the blues are taken from the sky; that is the house's own account of the palette and it holds up when you look at the rug.

01The origin of the pattern

The motifs themselves are classical Anatolian prayer-rug forms, redrawn in these modern tones rather than reproduced in the old ones. Four colors in a small object, kept apart by the gray, is why it stays legible instead of turning busy. Wool and cotton yarns are worked on the loom.

02From ground to pile

The face is matt rather than glossy and textured rather than smooth, which is wool doing what wool does; it breathes, and it holds up to being folded and unfolded every day. It wipes and vacuums easily, and it goes to a professional washer when it needs more than that.

Two pieces are in stock. Loom-woven in Türkiye from wool and cotton yarns. A gray ground with mustard-yellow side borders and olive-green panels. Blue and navy through the motifs, drawn from Anatolian prayer-rug tradition. Matt and textured rather than smooth and shining. One size only: 80 × 130 cm, which is the usual middle size. The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
