Tencel yarn

Lyocell takes up moisture quickly and releases it quickly, which is why it feels cool to the hand. It does not give the warmth wool gives.

This rug is woven in Türkiye. It comes straight from the workshop with no reseller layer; the place on the spec sheet and the place it was woven are the same.

Cleaning method: Professional cleaning. A pad laid underneath holds the rug in place and stops it rubbing against the floor; besides preventing sliding it also extends its life.

The story of this rug

Khaki green, graded rather than flat, with the tone shifting across the surface the way it shifts across velvet when you brush it one way and then the other. A Tencel® prayer rug loom-woven in Anatolia, it runs 80 × 130 cm (2'7" × 4'3") end to end and carries a small mark at the point of prostration and nothing else. Khaki is an odd color to reach for and a good one here.

01Which furniture, which room

It belongs to soil and to dry grass, so it stays quiet in a room of any temperature, and its graded surface holds the eye lightly instead of pulling at it. Against the amount of visual noise a modern day contains, that restraint is a deliberate argument rather than a shortage of ideas. Tencel® gives the pile a silk-like slip under the hand and a give under the knee, and the loom-woven structure produces an even, unbroken surface with no ridge anywhere across it.

It is made in Anatolia. Looked after properly and washed by a professional, it keeps this surface for a long run of years, and it is a plain enough object to be given as a gift without being read as an instruction. Loom-woven in Anatolia, giving an even and continuous surface. Tencel® yarn, silk-like to the hand and yielding under the knee. Khaki green in a graded, velvet-like transition rather than a flat tone. A small mark at the prostration point, and no other pattern. 80 × 130 cm. Designed in house to hold attention at one point during prayer. Careful use and professional washing keep the surface as it arrived. Of the colors in this series khaki is the one that disappears into a room, which for a prayer rug is a virtue rather than a failing.

Which size fits your room?

The most common mistake in choosing a rug is buying too small. Here are the numbers, room by room:

Living room

At least the front legs of the sofas should sit on the rug. Leave 20–40 cm of floor showing around it.

Recommended: 200×290 · 240×340 · 300×380

Dining room

It should extend 60–75 cm beyond every edge of the table, so chairs do not catch when pulled back.

Recommended: 200×290 · 250×250 · 240×340

Bedroom

Either cover the lower two-thirds of the bed, or choose a size that extends 60–90 cm on three sides.

Recommended: 170×240 · 200×290 · 240×340

Hallway · runner

Choose one 25–30 cm shorter than the hallway, leaving 10–15 cm of floor on each side.

Care — three rules

Vacuum regularly

Use a head without a beater bar, in the direction of the pile. Once a week is enough; dust is lifted before it settles between the yarns.

Treat spills before they dry

Blot, do not rub. Dampen with a suitable cleaner and dry.

Leave washing to a professional

Household machines are not suitable for woven rugs. One professional wash a year is recommended.

Which size should I choose for a living room?

At least the front legs of your sofas should sit on the rug. For a standard living room 200 × 290 cm is recommended; for wide rooms 240 × 340 cm or 300 × 380 cm. The scale plan on this page shows how much of a 520 × 420 cm room each size covers.

How long does shipping take, and what does it cost?

For international orders, shipping, duties and taxes are calculated at checkout and paid in advance; there is no cash on delivery. Rugs in stock leave Ankara within 1–3 business days.

Can I return it if I do not like it?

Yes. You can return it within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked. On international orders return shipping is paid by the buyer.

Will the color match what I see on screen?

Can the rug be used over underfloor heating?

It depends on the pile height. Low-pile woven rugs work with underfloor heating and do not block the heat. If you are unsure, send the product code to Client Services on WhatsApp.

How does the price change between sizes?

Pricing is by the square meter. The price per square meter is shown next to the price, and it updates as you select a size.

Can I see the rug in Ankara?

Yes. At our showroom in Çankaya, Ankara you can see the rugs in this series and touch the weave. No appointment is needed.

Can I ask for a size that is not listed?

Custom sizes can be woven in many series. Send your measurements on WhatsApp and we will come back with a production time and a price.
